Finally, I found another piece of wood scrap that I may use my Weirdiy set. After Weirdiy fish and Weirdiy face it is time for Weirdiy Geek!

I was writing before that making figurines for Weirdiy set is very easy because almost everything is on the wood. But to be honest it is not easy to find the good piece of wood for it. I found this piece when I was doing Halloween set in my wood scrap. For some time I was doing nothing with it because I had no idea what to do. As you know I'm an IT manager and one day came to me some system analyst with some question and he reminded me my piece of wood scrap that I have. So the Weirdiy geek is kind of portrait :P So that is the story about Weirdiy geek ;)

Now let's say about making process. At the beginning, I polished the wood scrap. Then I used palisander glaze to make a base paint. Before I used teak glaze but I left it in my family house during holidays.

When glaze was dry I painted two white circles as eyes of Weirdiy geek.

After that, I made black frames of binoculars and this was the hardest thing to do. We got DIY, we got wood but we don't have nails. At the end, I used small nails that I have found in my grandpa's garage. They are not so big as nails from palette so I made eyebrow od Weirdiy geek.

And that's how Weirdiy geek looks finished. Not to much work, but I like this Weirdiy series a lot because it move imagination and everyone may see another thing of this piece of wood. The mouth was already made by nature I made only binoculars and eyebrow of Weirdiy geek.

Hello, my friends!! Welcome at my DIY blog Kalamondin Design! I'm so happy to see you here, I have hope that you will enjoy the time that you spend here and maybe you will inspire to do something by your own hands!

Halloween is coming so as I said in my first post-Halloween Set I decided to try to earn some money. I had few block from the palette that I cut, few square scraps so this will be my Halloween set.
I don't have a lot of pictures of my work, but to be honest I did not work too much.
The most important thing is to polish wood scrap because as I said they are from different things and I had few splinters during this work. So if I want to have "safe" Halloween decoration I had to polished this scrap a lot.

After polishing the worst thing - painting. To base paint, I used orange "Śniezka". I found in Castorama nice series of paints that I may use to paint wood. They have a lot of colors (you may see them in my other post- Wood Holidays signs )and have small cans. As you know I live in a flat so space for me is more than gold. At the beginning, I was buying big cans because they are cheaper - but I had four cans in my wardrobe and I had no space. Now I'm buying small cans so I may have a lot of colors 😅
One of them is orange. As you may see it fits Halloween perfectly. It's like the natural color of pumpkin.
After base color, it is time for the face. And once again, probably the kid from elementary school would paint it better, but my kid got only 3 years so she can't paint (besides rainbows and my face 😆)
But I've made something as you may see, for sure you may see that this is handmade😂

At the end, it's time for nils. My Halloween set supposed to be spooky, but it is not. I think that it is funny but Halloween is for fun and for kids so I think that maybe some kid will buy it😉

Simple DIY on Kalamondin Design that you may do at your home. You don't need to use nails, you may do this Halloween decoration only from wood scrap. I had a lot of fun during doing it and project how to paint the face, how to locate nails.

Hello, my friends! Welcome at my DIY blog Kalamondin Design! I have Hope that you will like things which I'm doing with wood scrap and rusty nails.

Halloween is coming so I decided to try to earn some money on Halloween decorations. In Poland, Halloween is not so popular as in other countries in Europe or USA. But Warsaw is different than other cities. Here Halloween is more popular on every year so I will try to make some spooky Halloween decorations.

At the beginning, I found few pieces of square wood that I could use.

I polished the wood scrap to get a smooth effect and then I painted it with orange colors.

And now the worst part for me - precision painting. As I said before I got no paint skills so I had to look for some Halloween decorations to see how I can easily paint some spooky faces. I found it on Pinterest where I saw another Halloween decorations that I can make. But this time I'm using wood and nails so I will not talk about it. 

As you may see I made simple triangle eyes and nose and zigzag mouth. I' ll be honest that I was painting it for the first time! I have never before painted any Halloween decorations but as I said Halloween is not so popular here.

As you may see my bogey is not perfect but it doesn't need to be. It supposes to be original, simple and have nice look as a decoration. To be honest, I like it so much that I'm thinking about not selling it 😅

Kalamondin Design

I think that this is a very nice decoration that everyone may do and you don't need to use any powerful or expensive tools. I had a lot of fun when I was doing it, because from wood scrap you may get so nice thing. As I said maybe it is not perfect, but it is not from any factory and no one else got figurine like this. Little house made of wood scrap - tenement

     Welcome at my DIY blog DIY Kalamondin Design where are things from wood scrap I made at my balcony. If you like it - subscribe it! I will be very happy to tell you how I made my things😁

     I made this little house when I was on vacation with my wife and kids in my family home. That's why I don't have a lot of pictures from every step of making this little house this time. I was working from time to time and didn't remember of making pictures. Maybe because I'm just starting with my blogging 😁

     I took with me one block from the palette and few boards to clean. To make this little house I used one block and rest of boards that I used to make wood holiday signs at Kalamondin Design.
I had a lot of triangles so that was an idea to make of it a roof. As you may see until now I was doing little houses of one piece of wood. This time I couldn't do it so my choice was this way. I just wanted to do something 😁

     At the beginning, I cut the palette block into 2 pieces. I was trying to match width to triangles but they are not one size. So I chose 4 with similar size and decided to make a kind of tenement. We have here a beautiful old town so it will be a little house from Warsaw😁

     As I said I don't have a lot of pictures but I will tell you to step by step what I was doing with this little house. To paint block and triangles I used the teak glaze. I was not painting the front of little house. I used three new paints so I was afraid that teak glaze will change the color.
I'm putting a little of glue on one side of the triangles and I stick it to block.

     At the end was the color painting of the little house. I used red, orange, green and blue acrylic paints. I didn't mark windows and doors of little house, I was just doing it "on eyes". Now I think that it would look better if  to make windows on blue part I would use dark blue not white, but it's too late 😁

     At the end, I polished everything by sandpaper 120. As always I wanted to make a lot of scratches. I love the effect of sandpapering and made things older, so I'm doing it 😂

WEIRDIY face

     Welcome at my DIY blog Kalamondin Design!  Be my guest and subscribe my blog with things I'm making by wood scrap! Please give me feedback in comments are those things are bad or maybe you like it? This time I will present figurine from a set I called WEIRDIY.

      As you may see this wood scrap got almost finished face. You don't see it? At the top of wood is one eye. At the center of scrap are two holes which may be a nose. On the right side, under a nose is a mouth. Yes, maybe this is not a perfect face, but for my surreal weirdiy set it is OK 😆 I decided to make this set because I got a lot of different wood scraps and I wanted to find some theme. If you are my subscriber you know, that on this blog I got little houses. I didn't want to be monothematic so I created this set - WEIRDIY's 😅

      A the beginning of work I polished wood by sandpaper 100 and after that 220. The mouth was not very visible so I was working with sandpaper on it to make it bigger but still look natural. To be honest - if I'm changing some scrap I will tell you about that because I want to show you that there is a lot of things that you may do with a minimum work, it's just your imagination, sky is the limit 😏

      After based painted wood by teak glaze, I was polishing once again by sandpaper100 and 220. I painted wood only one time. As you may see it looks good.

     As you may see I polished teak paint from some places.  I like slippery corners and places where the paint is wiped. That's why almost all of my projects got wiped corners 😈 I decided to work a little with mouth to make it seen. At the same time, I didn't want to remove too much paint. What do you think, I suppose to remove it more or less?

      I didn't want to paint too much, just minimum. The wood is speaking for itself so I made only a blue eye. I think that this color looks very nice with teak glaze.

      As always at the end was time for nails. I had to use them because this blog is called wood and nails 😜 But to be honest I wanted to "create more"! I like those weirdiy things and I hate to finish my projects. I truly spend a lot of time watching those scraps and thinking what it may be. When I'm doing it I'm changing my imagines few times.
